To Set Up a Nominal Ledger Search

1.   From the Nominal Ledger window, click Search.

The Search window appears showing a new search, or if you have previously created a search request, the last search you created or recalled is displayed.

2.   If a search is already shown, to clear this information to create a new request, click Discard.

3.   From the Field drop down list, select the field you require. This will be the field you want to search on, for example Account reference.

4.   From the Condition drop-down list, select the condition you want to apply.

The following conditions are available; Is Equal to, Is Not Equal to, Is Less Than, Is Greater than, Is Less Than or Equal To, Is Greater Than or Equal To and Between.

Note: When using the Between condition, the two values must be split by a comma.

Not all of the sorting criteria are applied to every data type, and only those that apply to a particular data type appear on the drop down list.

Note: The Value boxes allow for Wildcards.

5.   In the Value box, enter the value you want the search request to look for when it is searching the records.

Note: in some cases where a request cannot be assigned a numerical or text value a drop down list is available.

6.   If you want to add a second selection to your request, press the TAB key to move onto the next line.

A second line appears.

7.   From the New drop down list, select either And or Or.

Note: When you add a second line, you need to decide whether you want both selections to be met. If you want both conditions to be met you must choose And from the New drop down list. If you want either condition to be met you must choose OR.

You can then continue to enter the selection. You can enter as many line as you need to refine your search request so that it displays the records you are looking for.

8.   When you have finished setting up your search request, you can save it by clicking Save As.

9.   To apply the search request, click Apply.

10. To return to the module window to view your search results, click Close.

The module window reappears with the search applied.
